As we speak, our busy builders are laying the foundations of the Legion Arena, where Starkadians can battle their fighters and build their legends.
That’s still a few months off. But in the meantime, you’re getting a glimpse of how to make your fighter ready for battle, fame and glory.
Equip your fighter
From today (that’s 9pm GMT, on Saturday February 12th), we’re unveiling our STARKADE equipment. By pairing up your fighter with equipment, you get to unlock their potential and turn them into even more of a mean fighting machine.
There’s no deadline to equip your fighter, so don’t feel like you need to rush into anything. Heck, maybe you just want to hang on until the Legion Arena opens and you get to see what’s what.
But when you’re ready to take the leap, you’ll be able to choose from a pre-selected range of cool stuff that will boost your fighter’s stats, and make them look even more awesome.
So let’s kick this off with the big question: what’s this all about?
Your stats, explained.
Here’s the deal…
If you’re the proud owner of a STARKADE Legion fighter — and you’ve connected your wallet at starkade.com — you’ll notice that they’ve got five intriguing attributes:
Power, Defence, Speed, Energy and Chaos.
Based on how your fighter scores in each of these areas, you’ve probably already started to build a picture of what their strengths and weaknesses might be.
If you’ve played fighting games before, some of this might sound familiar. But don’t stress if your fighter’s a little light in the “power” department, for instance. A super-powerful character might have an advantage in some types of battle, sure, but there’s the potential for them to be knocked off their perch by a fighter who uses their speed (or their chaos) at the right moment.
If you’re still a little unsure of what each of these attributes mean, we’ve put together a handy mini-guide to each one, and how they’ll play out in the Legion Arena, in the story world and in our upcoming tabletop game.
Choose your equipment
Now, here’s where it gets even more fun.
Our equipment gives you the chance to boost your fighter’s abilities. When you choose to “equip your fighter” through starkade.com, you’ll be able to browse a shortlist of equipment, and see how each one changes your fighter’s stats.
Each of these items has been pre-selected to match the innate abilities of your fighter.
Once you select your equipment, it will permanently update your NFT, which means that your image and stats will be locked in place. So when you’ve made your choice, there’s no going back.
This leaves you with a choice. If you spot a piece of equipment that fits your fighter’s vibe, and you can’t imagine any other possibility, go ahead and make that selection. Your fighter looks great, by the way.
But, maybe, in a few months time, you’ll find yourself locked in a battle in the Legion Arena where a little strategy could be the difference between holding your head up high and eating floor.
And that’s where the decisions you make on equipment could come in handy.
Time for some strategic thinking…
Here’s the secret that all good trainers know:
Training is about helping fighters to maximise their potential, rather than ruining them by turning them into something they’re not.
So say you’ve got a fighter who looks pretty speedy, and is pretty comfortable with chaos. But maybe their power isn’t great. Do you wanna pick equipment that maximises that speed, or level up their power to make them more of an all-rounder?
Choosing your fighter’s equipment is your biggest opportunity to alter that fighter’s stats before they step into the Legion Arena. So don’t waste that opportunity to unlock their potential.
REMEMBER: There’s no deadline to equip your fighter. You don’t have to do it today, or tomorrow, or even next month.
So before you make that lifelong commitment, think about who you want your fighter to become. Do you want someone who’s okay in a few areas, or someone with one or two abilities that are up there with the best in the arena (even if that means that a couple of their other attributes are pretty low).
Which stats will best match the way you want to fight, and the personality and characteristics you want in your awesome Legion fighter?
At this point, you might say, “Well, folks, I don’t know, do I? I’ve never seen the Legion Arena, and I don’t know how it works.”
To which we say, “fair enough”. You may want to wait until we release more info in the coming months.
Or, a truly wily Starkadian might want to wait, and choose their equipment when the arena has opened. To watch and learn, until they’ve got a sense of what’s going on and how they want to play. And then — and only then — select their equipment and turn their fighter into the fantastic champion they were always destined to be.
Once again, you don’t need to make any decisions now.
But — from today — you’ve got the option.
Dive in, or watch and wait. It’s up to you. But choose wisely. Your fortunes in the arena may depend on it.
